If You Could Tell the World One Thing…

If you could say something and the whole world would listen.

Every person on the planet hinging on your every word…

What would you say?

President’s Day

•February 16, 2010 • Leave a Comment

I had the opportunity to see Washington DC with my fiancé this past year. I never would have thought that walking the streets of sidewalks of that place would make me speechless – anybody who knows me knows that I’m never short on words! There were moments when we were walking and I literally didn’t know what to say. Looking at the monuments established to honor men that gave almost everything they had to build a country that they didn’t even get to see fully develop. It’s amazing.

If you’re at all like me, you want to see the results quickly. I don’t like to wait for things to develop, I want to see the results now! I can’t imagine sitting in a dark, dingy room lit by candles, sweating and starving discussing laws and policies that haven’t even been developed yet!

These men were BRILLIANT! Working day in and day out to build the foundation for the country we live in now, a country based on principles of freedom and equality – even if there were some dark times. As I write this it’s 7:16 pm and the day is almost over… but as you read this, please take moment and realize that the men who poured their hearts and souls into this country deserve our respect. It’s because of them I have the freedom to write these words without worry of the repercussions.

Politics is more than what we see on CNN or FoxNews, it’s more than what we read on the blogs and in the newspaper. Don’t get caught up in the craziness of opinion arguments and mudslinging. Remember, it’s because of the founding fathers and our presidents that we can exercise our right to bash them.

Remember. Freedom isn’t free.

What Do You Do…

…on a snowy winter day?

Here are my favorite things to do on a snow day?

1. Read a book with a fire going and a cup of hot chocolate. I don’t always have a fireplace for that, so sometimes it’s just a book and a hot chocolate.
2. Snowball fights.
3. Throwing people in snow.
4. Doughnuts in a parking lot. (When the parking lot is empty of course).
5. Catching up on much needed – and put off – work around the house.
6. Movies with my fiancé Steph.
7. Doing nothing but talking with Steph while cuddled up with a blanket.

That’s what I like to do with a snow day. What about you!?

Lazy Saturday

•January 30, 2010 • Leave a Comment

What do you do on a lazy Saturday?

I love to catch up on TV shows recorded on the DVR.
Play online.
Watch movies with Steph. I really enjoy sitting around doing nothing with my lovely fiancé tucked under my arm resting her head on my shoulder.

Not every Saturday is a lazy Saturday, but at least one day out of the week should be set aside to recharge, refresh, chill out and remember that the world does not stop moving if you take a break.

The Bible puts it this way, “Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.” Which essentially means, take a day to remember that God is in control and enjoy resting in Him.

What do you do on a lazy day?
